The Skin Cancer Foundation Gala

n October 15, hundreds of guests representing the
beauty, publishing, medical, pharmaceutical
and retail industries attended the 2013 Skin Cancer
Foundation Gala at The Plaza Hotel in New York
City. The annual event honored Hearst Magazines
and the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC)
Sunscreen Committee. Honorees received Skin
Sense Awards in recognition of their exceptional
achievements in skin health, including public
education about sun protection and skin cancer
prevention. The evening also included a presentation
of the 2013 Media Award for excellence in skin cancer-related editorial
coverage. Highlights of the program included performances by Grammy
Award-winner Michelle Williams and the legendary Grammy-, Emmy-,
and Tony Award
®
-winning singer Cyndi Lauper, with appearances by
celebrities including William Hurt, Veronica Webb and Gretchen Mol.
